When Rabbi Master left and Rabbi Sam Rose arrived to lead us in worship, he continued the warm and informal style with his guitar, and encouraged a volunteer choir to join him as often as possible. As a rabbi emeritus from Temple L'Chayim in Clermont, Florida, and as a retired US Army active duty chaplain, I enjoy sitting in a pew with my wife and other congregants to pray and enjoy the service. Rabbi Rose reminds me a lot of my own style with a guitar when I was his age in Dix Hills, Long Island, NY, preaching in a similar style as well. The people of Temple of Israel are friendly and welcoming to all visitors and make everyone feel comfortable. Now that we are confined to our homes, Rabbi Rose provides a beautifully illustrated service with the playbook and colorful slides for all of us who watch on Zoom. You need to check how to sign onto the Friday evening service here on the temple website or phone someone in the office during its hours. It is Friday evening, 3 April 2020, and rev Shabbat Tzav 5780. שבת שלום. Shabbat Shalom.

Rabbi Sam Rose and his board of directors, with President Krause has made the difficult but wise decision to close operations at the Temple until it is safe for people to a assemble again. But they also enable worship to continue with Zoom, a brilliant innovation, which many other houses of worship around the USA are using. We can share a great deal this way. I missed the first Friday evening service on Zoom, but got a great review friend who watched it from Knoxville, TN, who greatly appreciates Rabbi Rose. So do I. I am pleased to have him as my young colleague. To all of you in the Temple family, I wish SHAVUA TOV, A GOOD WEEK! שבוע טוב

As a rabbi Emeritus of Temple L'Chayim, Clermont, Fl, and ordained 50 years now, having served ten different congregations, beside the US Army Jewish communities in six more locations, I find Temple of Israel, friendly and warm, welcoming of everyone. The two rabbis, Jeremy Master, and now Sam Rose, were inspiring, people-focused, and able leaders of their synagogue, which has a relaxed atmosphere and beauty. The bimah is the most inspiring I've ever seen, including European synagogues. That is the work of an artisan, who has served as the congregations lay leader as well. Visit the Temple for a Friday evening or holy day service, and discover this for yourself.I'm glad I've settled in Greenville.
